Our Vision & Aims
Our Vision:
“We believe in the benefits of sport and physical activity
and the empowerment of others to achieve those benefits”
PRO-ACTIVE South London aim to achieve this by:
- Encouraging participation in sport and physical activity across all demographics and levels of ability
- Creating accessible opportunities for sport and physical activity for all
- Building clearer pathways and creating better infrastructure
- Empowering people to help themselves by offering support, advice and guidance
- Developing relationships and networks that extend, sustain and improve the partnership
What do we do?
PRO-ACTIVE South London (PASL) works across the sporting landscape, actively supporting partners to increase participation in sport and physical activity.
PASL is contracted by Sport England to provide a set of core services to underpin the local delivery of National Governing Body (NGB) Whole Sport Plans and support the achievement of NGB and Sport England targets. PASL helps connect NGBs to the local area and local partners, supports NGBs with the development of clubs, coaches and volunteers, helps attract external investment and supports the development of facilities.
PASL is uniquely positioned to boost delivery of wider physical activity alongside sport and help the Health sector to utilise sport and physical activity more effectively to increase health and well-being. We are recognised by the Department of Health as a key partner in co-ordinating local physical activity programmes with local health agencies and commissioners. This work includes other recreational activities such as walking, cycling and dance and involves PASL ensuring a joined-up approach to sport and physical activity at the local level, connecting sport with Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and other health agencies, and helping to demonstrate the value of investing in physical activity to achieve health outcomes.
PASL also contributes significantly to PE & Sport for Young People. This includes leading the implementation of the Sportivate programme and working closely with the Youth Sport Trust and schools networks locally to support school sport mostly including workforce training, education and networking.
